Unleashed

Brilliant

(Edit) 23/03/2006

This film is like three films in one. Just as you get settled into one genre it jumps into another and then to another and then back again, meaning you can never really relax, but who would want to when the action is this good?

The Phantom of the Opera

A bore

(Edit) 23/03/2006

I was thinking this might be another Evita - one of my favourite films, but I was sorely disappointed. With Evita the songs move the story along and the action is constant. This film is just dragged out with very long sequences in which the characters just sang to each other, not telling the audience anything and quite were frankly rather dull.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day

A real delight

(Edit) 03/04/2009

This is a great little film. Once you get past Amy Adams' rather annoying character it's a real delight, especially once you realise the context it is in - the contrast of the unemployed nanny to the spoilt actress and her priviledged lifestyle set on the eve of war as a warning of how quickly the privileges can be taken away. Watch it - you'll feel better afterwards! Or watch it just for the transformation of Lee Pace from Piemaker Ned in Pushing Daisies to a rather hunky piano playing English gent!
