Rent 50 First Dates (2004)

Henry Rot (Adam Sandler) lives an enviable life in a Hawaiian paradise, enjoying the company of countless beautiful women with no strings attached... until he meets Lucy (Drew Barrymore). He and Lucy hit it off from the word go, but unfortunately Lucy has short-term memory loss and fails to remember Henry the next day. But a man in love will go to any lengths to win over the girl of his dreams, and if that means having to find new and imaginative ways of romancing Lucy every single day, then Henry's up for the challenge.

More romance than laughs.

Henry is a Hawaiian marine biologist with commitment issues. As a way of maintaining very short term relationships he only dates tourists, that's until he meets Lucy and its love at first sight. Unfortunately, Lucy has a condition that causes memory loss and when she goes to sleep at night she can't remember the events of the previous day, so every day Henry needs to win her over and make her fall in love with him again. Overall, plot is somewhat like a cross between 'Memento' and 'Groundhog Day', and while it's hardly original what really binds the film together is the great onscreen chemistry between Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. The supporting cast is pretty good with some funny moments from Sean Austin and Rob Schneider. All in all, it's pretty much typical Adam Sandler fodder, a funny and sweet romantic comedy which fans of 'The Wedding Singer' should love. It could have done with a few more laughs though.

This is such a great film, as soon as I watched it, I had to buy it. The cast are fabulous and work so well together. Sandler is a scream, how does he keep a straight face? A great comedy romance, well worth watching.
