The lyrics from "Sunday" the first track on David Bowie's 2002 album release Heathen, could be used to describe an extraordinary career that has spanned nearly four decades. Rare photos, candid interviews with friends, family and music contemporaries, and footage of his exhilarating live performances illuminate the life of rock 'n' roll revolutionary David Bowie. Most successful musicians change their style somewhat over the course of their career, but few have evolved as rapidly or as adroitly as David Bowie. Bowie has played many roles during his long career, usually coinciding with major stylistic changes that were often eerily prescient of pop trends. From his early years as a glam icon to his critically acclaimed late 1970s work with Brian Eno and his runaway commercial success in the 1980s, Bowie has remained a fixture in rock music, all the while dabbling in production, stage and screen acting, and art. Today Bowie continues to be on the leading edge of cultural revolutions. A member of the editorial Board of the Highly regarded fine arts magazine, Modern Painters, a financial mastermind who became the first musician to issue bonds, the man who launched the world's first artist-created Internet service provider and an inspiration for fashion designers across the globe. Bowie released his 25th album Heathen, in 2002 at the age of 55.
