Plagued by self-doubt and a creative block, English composer Edward Elgar (James Fox) believed all was lost ... until he heard the sublime skill of Jelly d'Aranyi (Selma Alispahic), a remarkably talented Hungarian violinist. Through their short-lived yet touching relationship, Elgar regains his creative inspiration, anointing Aranyi as his "tenth muse."
