Michel (Gerard Lanvin), a wealthy Parisian lawyer, finds himself beguiled by the attractive young thief Cécile (Virginie Ledoyen), and agrees to represent her in court. The pair soon embark upon an affair - first moving into a hotel together, and then into an apartment of their own - but Cécile's ex-boyfriend Vincent (Guillaume Canet) refuses to let go and starts stalking the couple, before eventually confronting Michel in an encounter which will change all of their lives forever.
