Dame Judi Dench is one of the most celebrated stars of stage and screen. She is the winner of an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, an unprecedented seven Olivier Awards, and numerous BAFTAs. At the BBC, she has appeared in a dazzling range of material from sitcoms to Shakespeare. This collection contains eight star-studded BBC productions spanning four decades and ranges from the Feydeau farce Keep an Eye on Amelie (1978) to Ibsen's Ghosts (1987) with Kenneth Branagh, Michael Gambon and Natasha Richardson. It features a version of Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard 1981, as well as Talking to a Stranger (1966) described as the first authentic masterpiece written directly for television. This selection of classic television plays also features Dench alongside Norman Wisdom and Fulton Mackay in Going Gently (1981) and Robert Hardy in Michael Frayn's award winning Make and Break. Dench's later work is represented by Absolute Hell (1991) a role for which she won an Olivier Award and Can You Hear Me Thinking? (1990) in which she starred opposite her husband Michael Williams.
