The last of Rohmer's Six Moral Tales. Frederic leads a bourgeois life; he is a partner in a small Paris office and is happily married to Helene, a teacher expecting her second child. In the afternoons, Frederic daydreams about other women, but has no intention of taking any action. One day, Chloe, who had been a mistress of an old friend, begins dropping by his office. They meet as friends, irregularly in the afternoons, till eventually Chloe decides to seduce Frederic, causing him a moral dilemma.

Love In The Afternoon review by Tim from London
A moral tale with strong characterisation

This is the last of Rohmer's Six Moral Tales about a married man (Frederic) attracted to other women who is missing the time when he was free. He meets up with Chloe, a free-spirited friend and they spend afternoons together talking about love and relationships. The main tension of the film is the choice Frederic must make between his passion for Chloe and his love for his wife.
Like most of Rohmer's films the focus is on characters rather than plot. There is lots of talking - but it never seems false or tiresome. It is a charming film with real characters and real moral dilemmas.
