Rent Merlin's Apprentice (2005)

The great sorcerer has returned to Camelot in the sequel to the Multi-Emmy Award winning Merlin. Merlin's Apprentice finds a Kingdom now vulnerable to ill-fates and war since the theft of The Holy Grail, its greatest gift and protection. With the help of Jack, an irascible young beggar-thief imbued with his own unruly magic, the fight against unknown dangers begins - to find The Grail, restore it to its rightful place, and bring Camelot back to its glory days.

Merlin's Apprentice review by CB

Disapointing follow-up

As a huge fan of the original film Merlin, I had looked forward to seeing this sequel, however it had definitely lost some of the magic. Miranda Richardson's portrayal of the Lady of the Lake wasn't a patch on Mab or even the Lady of the Lake herself in the earlier film, and Sam Neill's Merlin also didn't measure up. The storyline itself was fairly predictable, with none of the twists being at all surprising, and some of the events didn't make sense if you are aware of the first film. I'd recommend watching Merlin again instead :)
