Rent Paycheck (2003)

Michael Jennings (Ben Affleck) is a brilliant computer engineer hired for work on top-secret projects. After each job, Jenning's short-term memory is erased so he can not recount any project information. Emerging from his latest assignment - a three-year contract with an eight-figure paycheck, given to him by an old friend (Aaron Eckhart) - Jennings is shocked to be told that he agreed to forfeit all payment. It appears he is left with no comeback - until he receives a mysterious envelope containing clues to his forgotten past. With the help of a beautiful scientist (Uma Thurman), Jennings must race to solve the puzzle of his past... whilst avoiding a terrifying discovery which awaits him in the future.

Paycheck review by Shatner's Bassoon

An entertaining though predictable sci-fi action thriller.

Paycheck is a film that really doesn't live up to its full potential; the story starts off as promising but doesn't really deliver throughout the course of the film. And for a film of this genre it's not as suspenseful or thrilling as you would expect, normally films like this have a few twists and turns that leave you anticipating how the story will end, and while 'Paycheck' tries its best to keep you involved you soon get the feeling that you pretty much know what's coming. Overall, it's not a bad film, Affleck is pretty good, it could have done with few more thrills and spills, but it's definitely worth a look.
