Rent Polish Wedding (2001)

"Claire Danes is seductive" (The Hollywood Reporter) as a sinfully sexy young woman whose forbidden love affair turns her world upside down.
Hala (Danes) is as sassy as her mother (Lena Olin) and as sensitive as her father (Gabriel Byrne). It's a winning combination, but when she falls for the neighborhood cop on the beat, their summer romance stretches her family's strength and support to outrageous lengths. Now the rush is on to plan the nuptial - despite an extremely reluctant groom and other hilarious complications.
"Loaded with heart" (Los Angeles Times) and packed with equal parts of passion and playfulness, Polish Wedding is a rousing celebration of life, love and laughter!

Polish Wedding review by Shatner's Bassoon

Fairly dull.

Polish Wedding centers around the Pzoniak's, a Polish immigrant family living in America. The mother of which, Jadzia, is an active member of the local 'Polish Women's Organization', although unbeknown to her husband her activity within the 'PWO' is just a front to cover her affair with another man. Her daughter Hala is a high school drop out, who is chosen by their local catholic church to represent the 'innocence of the Virgin Mary', though secretly she has been seeing a young neighbourhood policeman and is far from a virgin and in fact pregnant. There are a few laughs along the way, but overall 'Polish Wedding' is pretty dreary stuff. Despite having a certain charm to it, the plot seems to plod along aimlessly and the purpose of the story is lost fairly early in the film.
