When Kym, returns to the Buchman family home for the wedding of her sister Rachel, she brings a long history of personal crises, family conflict and tragedy along with her. The wedding couple's abundant party of friends and relations have gathered for a joyful weekend of feasting, music and love, but Kym - with her biting one-liners and flair for bombshell drama - is a catalyst for long-simmering tensions in the family dynamic.

Pretty Annoying

I'd have to say that this was an annoying film. It is also the sort of film that you sit there going, I never want any of this stuff to happen at my wedding!!! So it's instructive in what not to have at a wedding. As a movie however I felt it a little forced and Anne Hathaway is out of place playing this kind of role and doesn't really convince totally. I am not exactly sure what the intentions of the film are and so you have to view it for yourself. The ending sort of satisfies but overall it's not a film I'd ever watch twice.

Should be French

Rachel Getting Married is a very confused film. Ideally this is a French family situation that only the French can do. However here devoid of laughs is a downbeat drama with a wedding tagged onto the end to try and appeal to the female demographic. Anne Hathaway tries to come over all serious whilst constantly smoking in almost every scene. Your interest evaporates and all that remains is the game of counting cigarettes.
