Rent Stephen King's Desperation (2006)

Every town has its secrets.
Welcome to the town of Desperation, Nevada: population practically nobody...and falling. Horror master Stephen King and an impressive cast team for a heart-racing, palm-sweating terror spree set in the modern but hardly tamed West. A hellish hulk of a sheriff rules Desperation, and he has a lot more than a sidearm in his arsenal of weapons. A posse of demon-possessed desert beasts and human beings join the lawman in plunging passersby, including a young boy with a profound faith in prayer, into a demented game of life or death inside the Desperation jail. Terrified, the captives unite in a frantic bid to escape their otherworldly tormentors. And a little child shall lead them.

The film was good in as much it kept you in suspense with the background stories yet it still had the inevitable Stephen King twist at the end.

Enjoyable but too long

I enjoy Stephen King books that are developed into TV Movies. Ever since The Stand and It, it's a given that your going to be entertained. I did enjoy this movie I haven't read the book so cannot comment on what has been changed. The acting was good however I found that this movie (teleplay by Stephen King) seemed to be as long as possible with some scenes really going nowhere. The movie is pretty much standard Stephen King stuff with a religous overtone, it is in the same vein of the Stand and the Tommyknockers but just not as good. Even so it's enjoyable enough to fill in an evening when there is nothing on telly.

A great Stephen King book but sadly fails to meet expectations in the film. It is OK but that's all.

Enjoyable King adaptation.

As Stephen King adaptations go 'Desperation' is pretty decent, not as good as 'Storm of the century', ''Rose Red' or the 2004 remake of 'Salems Lot' but for Stephen King fans an enjoyable way to spend two hours.
