Good for Terminator Fans

If you are a Terminator fan then you will like this one. It's fun and the effects are good. I enjoyed it a lot but then I love the Terminator. I can't say it's the best movie in the world but it's better than T3 but not as good at T1 or T2. I would see it to complete the story if nothing else.

Disapponiting

This just goes to show that a big budget doesn't necessarily mean a good film.
This looked great and I was impressed by the special effects, but the story was very strained. By half way through I was wondering when it would end. Later I realised I wasn't bothered at seeing the end!

Expected so much more.

While it loses some of the cheesiness of the second and third terminator films, 'Salvation' adds very little to the franchise. There is countless amounts of big action special effect scenes, though once you've seen one chase scene resulting in a huge explosion you've seen it all before and it all gets a bit boring. With the decent cast it has and huge budget I expected so much more, but in reality 'Salvation' is little more than nearly two hours of explosions, action scenes and a story that has been told at least twice before.

Not Even Redemption

Finally a chance to see the struggle against Skynet arrives in the fourth Terminator film. The decline of the series from the highpoint of the first two films continues. Under the directorship of McG this is very much style over substance with too many new machines and shallow characters thrown into the mix. It should be a white-knuckle ride of action yet the adrenaline fails to materialise with overstretched scenes and lukewarm execution. It does look fabulous on Blu Ray and a huge assortment of extras is included on this disc. Yet I’d trade all of this extra content in for a decent Terminator movie. The nods to previous films are far too obvious and it feels as if McG is trying to cover our eyes to this incarnation’s quality by looking back.
