Part 1
Julian, Dick and Anne meet their tomboy cousin George and share the first of many adventures when they go to stay with Uncle Quentin, Aunt Frances and Timmy the dog at Kirrin Cottage.
After sheltering in the ruins of Kirrin Castle from a violent thunder storm, they are astonished to discover that a ship wreck has been washed up onto the rocks! Along with a mysterious wooden box.
What is in the box? Where is the hidden treasure? The Famous Five follow the clues – but they are not alone! Somebody else has joined the treasure hunt…

…A secret compartment in the wooden box reveals an ancient map. But where is the gold hidden?
With Timmy’s help the children try to find the treasure, before Uncle Quentin sells Kirrin Island to a couple of rogues named Carter and Phil. Will they get to the treasure in time before the villains catch The Famous Five?
