From Academy Award nominated director Lasse Hallstrom, The Hoax is a slick, smart and funny escapade with an acclaimed cast including Richard Gere, Alfred Molina, Julie Delphy and Hope Davis. Set in the early 1970s and based on an unbelievable true story, The Hoax stars Richard Gere as Clifford Irving, a failed writer whose career is going nowhere until he embarks on one of the greatest cons of the century. Claiming that he has conducted a series of top-secret interviews with the legendary billionaire and recluse Howard Hughes, Irving's hoax biography fools both his publishers and the entire world. However, in doing so he sparks a media frenzy that threatens to spiral out of control.
