After landing a gig as a sad circus clown, timid Javier (Carlos Areces) falls for beguiling but masochistic trapeze artist Natalia (Carolina Bang) and begins battling for the beauty's affections with her brutally abusive boyfriend, Sergio (Antonio de la Torre).
