After suffering an injury in Iraq, Sgt TK Poole is granted one month leave to visit his fiancée. But when an unexpected blackout cancels all flights out of New York, TK agrees to share a ride with two other stranded servicemen, Sgt Fred Cheever and Pvt Colee Dunn. What begins as a short visit home, turns into a poignant journey of self discovery as all 3 are forced to grapple with old relationships, broken hopes and the realisation that home is not quite what they remembered. Their unlikely companionship might now be what matters the most.....

Interesting Backdrop to Iraq Conflict

The Middle East film genre is stuffed full of films regarding action and the consequences of the decision to invade. Very few take a look life back home for returning forces members and their difficulty in adjusting to civilian life. In this respect the Lucky Ones is of interest but the film fails to develop or provide new insight or revelation. Each of the trio are polar opposites yet they soon find common ground and recollections are discussed openly. Lucky Ones is a campfire session of experience and what they plan to do when they finally get back to their loved ones.
