Set in 1927 and with the threat of persecution increasing, a young Jewish girl is sent overseas by her worried Russian family. Once she arrives in England, her identity and memory are stripped as she is re-named and given a new life. Ten years later, Suzie (Christina Ricci) leaves England for Paris to start a new life. While working in a prestigious opera company, she meets and falls in love with gypsy horse-handler, Cesar (Johnny Depp). As the Nazi threat intensifies, Suzie is forced once again to flee the life she has created and leave all that she loves behind.

Enjoyed this film, especially as Johnny Depp is in it! More opera than I was expecting and I would have liked more of the history explored, especially at the end.
