After two tough years in Chicago, the Solomon family retreat to a desolate sunflower farm in North Dakota. Their search for a quiet life in the country is shattered when 16-year-old Jess (Kristen Stewart) and her 2-year-old brother Ben begin to see nightmarish apparitions, visions that nobody else can see. Jess must battle with forces far from beyond the grave in a desperate hope to save her family and prove her sanity.

quiete a hair raiser at times, see the message coming easy but the direction and hairaisers no,very good without the gore of late

At the start, I thought oh my god, this looks like its going to be rubbish, but I have to say, that although it is predictable and the effects dont exactely blow your mind, there are some edge of your seat moments, and some scary moments. Worth a watch!

A pre-Twilight Kristen Stewart road-tests the teen sulks, sorry, misunderstood adolescent angst in this average haunted house thriller. It’s OK with some creepy moments featuring the usual kid that can "see", blissfully ignorant parents who don’t notice a thing, a mysterious farmhand, and something nasty guess where?? -but there’s nothing much here to take the movie beyond the run-of-the mill.

I have to admit to being a bit disappointed with 'The Messengers', as their first English language movie I expected a bit more from the Pang brothers. The film is essentially an Amityville style haunted house film. The standard of acting is pretty high for this type of film and compared to other films within the genre it's not that bad.
