While it first premiered on British TV screens fifteen years ago, The Politician's Wife is as compelling, gripping and shockingly true in its political and social impact as it ever was. The Tory Minister of the Family, Duncan Matlock - embroiled in a sensitive policy plan to cut Child Benefits - has been caught having an affair, and the last to know is his devoted wife Flora. To her, it is a body blow, not only for her husband's infidelity, but the way in which a swirling sea of Conservative men around her are not only aware of the affair but are only concerned with damage control.
