Based on true events, the latest film from veteran French filmmaker Eric Rohmer is a compelling tale of intrigue set against the political turmoil of pre-World War II Europe. With Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany growing in power and Spain in the grip of Civil War, an urbane White Russian general, Fyodor Voronin, and his Greek wife Arsinoe, are caught in the mood of uncertainty.
