In this moving 10-part documentary made for Discovery Channel, TV's 'Pub Landlord' Al Murray takes an emotional journey along the road to Berlin as he follows the Allied advance that finally brought down Nazi Germany. Breaking out from the Normandy beaches on "D-Day" and pushing through a heavily defended Caen and a newly liberated Paris on their way to Berlin, Al carefully explains the Allied operation from 1944 to 1945 in great detail, retracing every fateful step, either from the driver's seat of his Willys Jeep, atop an historical Sherman tank, or jumping from a Dakota transport plane. From the disaster at Arnhem during Operation "Market Garden" to the eventual victory at the now famous Battle of the Bulge. Following the Russians as they finally pushed the Germans back from in sight of the Kremlin, fighting for every bloody inch of raised terrain from Moscow to the heart of Germany, exacting a brutal and bloody revenge upon the people of Germany. To the discovery of the Nazi Death Camps such as Bergen-Belsen, hidden away in a leafy country lane, thousands of people left to die of starvation and disease.
