Synopsis:
Set in an age when people in several States in America were struggling with issues pertaining to racial segregation, the clips on this DVD pay homage to the efforts made by stalwarts like Dr, Martin Luther King in restoring America?s image as a secular country. First hand news clips and recordings of meetings and speeches made against the injustice being meted out to African Americans in Alabama and - believe it or not - New York, tell a stirring story of the fight - and sacrifices made - for equality. You also have a dramatized clip, which warns Americans about the dangers of giving in to segregational ideologies, citing the story of Nazi Germany as an example.
With the Cold War heating up quickly, this message could not have been better timed. The DVD rounds off with an uplifting account of how a district in New York went all out to instill the principles of social integration among school children, thus restoring faith in the fact that the human race is blessed with an incredible ability to bounce back from a crisis. It also seems to make a significant statement - that America had learned from history.
