From his unusual marital situation to his disappointment and frustration with the critics and patrons of his work, we witness the rise of one of France's premiere artists and the pitfalls that came parallel to his success. Rodin became one of France's premiere artists in the later half of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth centuries, making him known as the last artist before the Abstract Movement. He created sculptures that were remarkably able to convey the intricate movements of his models despite the motionless limitations of the art form, and in doing so, he became not only the artistic pride of his homeland, but a dedicated servant to the people of it.
