Manchester, 1984 - 11-year-old Georgie Gallagher (Jack Smith) is a gifted footballer and captain of a team of unruly talents. As they prepare for the Manchester Junior Football Cup, fates collide to bring them a new coach - just when they need it most. What Georgie and hist teammates don't know is that their elderly coach is none other than the legendary Manchester United manager Sir Matt Busby! Having survived the Munich plane crash, Sir Matt comes out of retirement to transform the boys into a dream team. But all Georgie's mum (Natascha McElhone) can dream of is her son passing the entrance exam for Lancashire Grammar School, and giving up his football.
