Britain at War: Keep Smiling Through

Willie Rushton narrates this celebration of the performers who helped Britons keep their spirits up through the difficult years of World War 2. The film includes footage of entertainers of the time including Arthur Askey,George Formby,Gracie Fields and Max Wall,as well as amateur performers enlisted by ENSA,whose humour and memorable renditions of songs old and new kept the troops and the public smiling through the war effort.
