A real delight. - Cadfael: Series 1 review by Maureen
The Cadfael series was a real delight when the stories were first broadcast, on the then Central Television. These tales, set in the period of England's first Civil War, between Stephen and Matilda, show Brother Cadfael, played by Derek Jacoby, as a monk, herbalist and detective. He had a previous life as a soldier, fighting in the Crusades. There is an added pleasure for those of us who live near Shrewsbury as that is where the scenes are set, in places we know. If you haven't seen the these films are well worth watching.
