- Synopsis:
- Anthropologist Harold Munroe (Robert Kerman) is hellhound as he travels into the green inferno of South America's rain-forest in an attempt to find a documentary crew lost months before. Instead of survivors he discovers a world of cannibalistic excess beyond his wildest imaginings but when he returns home and screens the footage left behind by the eviscerated filmmakers, chaos erupts as the screen is filled with some of most disturbing images ever committed to celluloid.

Not Sure If I Liked it or NOT - Cannibal Holocaust review by CP Customer
This film was banned and rated shocking, obviously that was the 70's but I found the film a bit strange. The first half of the film is watchable but a bit dull, it is only when you see whe actual footage of the young people in the jungle, tormeting and being just cruel is when it starts to get interesting. The last sort of 20 mins I would say is the best part of the film. I would watch this again but maybe skip the first half! (When the gore starts it starts, although not as nasty as some of the modern day film I would say, but still pretty f****d up)

Avoid - Cannibal Holocaust review by CP Customer
Cannibal Holocaust is a film which full of more shock and gore than actual scares. But the most disturbing scenes in the film are those that contain extremely graphic shots of live animals being killed. These includes a live muskrat being split open, a monkey having its head cut off, and a turtle being beheaded and butchered. Watching something horrific which is an act of fiction is one thing, but when it comes to animals being killed for the sake of entertainment, then I'll pass thank you very much.

Actual animal deaths - Cannibal Holocaust review by NP
Hi I watched the version of this including the 6 animal deaths (un-simulated: turtle, monkey, spider, snake, coati, pig). They're pretty quick, but if you don't want to see that, I think there is an option on the disc to see an animal safe version. The film is an interesting concept, but apart from the above not very shocking by modern standards, also there's no tension whatsoever, it seems intent on being as controversial as possible. At least I can say I have seen it, but only recommended for completists.
