Synopsis:
Soaring property prices have transformed a south London street. The residents of Pepys Road - investment banker Roger, hoping for a million pound bonus, octogenarian widow Petunia, and the Kamals, Pakistani-British owners of a grocery shop - all receive an anonymous postcard with a simple message: "We want what you have". But who is behind the unsettling campaign and what do they want? Each door on Pepys Road hides a story of its own, the mysterious messages keep coming, creating ripples through every corner of the community, as the residents' lives change beyond recognition over the course of the year.
Adapted by BAFTA winner Peter Bowker from the acclaimed, bestselling novel by John Lanchester, 'Capital' cleverly interweaves a vivid ensemble of characters in a gripping story bursting with piercing observations on modern life in the capital.

Brilliant cast, tragi-comic stories - Capital review by CM

Spoiler Alert

Gripping drama, excellently played, the contrasts of wealth & poverty, economic & social security vs lack of any haven, & the vagaries of fortune affecting the residents of a small corner of London & their wider families kept us engrossed almost to the end. Unfortunately, the underlying concept hadn't the strength to carry the burden of the various stories, & needed at least tweaking for more credibility.
