"Criminal" follows an unpredictable and dangerous death-row inmate, Jericho (Kevin Costner), who has the skills and memories of a CIA operative implanted into his mind, in a last-ditch effort to stop an international terrorist plot. This is explosive story of the right man in the wrong body.
Struggles to find itself and founders on the rocks!

This film tries so hard to be in the style of a classic European Thriller, but fails miserably, mainly due to the very strong American references which keep cropping throughout the film! These are presumably there to make this appeal to an American audience as well as a European one and as a result it does neither! With Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones vying with each other too much for attention and Ryan Reynolds making a very short appearance right at the beginning, one wonders if the cast was right for such a film? The first ten minutes starts off quite tight and slick, but the whole things soon starts to unravel and you're left with a very patchy affair that never quite lives up to what it wants to be! Shame because the idea was quite a good one and if this had been made as a European thriller, aimed at a European audience, it could have been quite good, but sadly all the unnecessary and irrelevant American references spoil it completely!
