Every Sunday at 8 o'clock, Americans turned on their televisions to watch his live variety show, not only hoping to catch a glimpse of the established stars of popular music but also to discover new trends and up-and-coming stars. One thing that could be counted on was you'd witness legendary performances that would be riveting to watch and exhilarating to hear.
