Synopsis:
In "Gangs of Britain" Gary and Martin Kemp take the viewer on an immersive journey across the UK in which they reveal who ran and who now runs gangland Britain. By connecting the fascinating historical stories of the country's first criminal fraternities (from Manchester's Scuttlers, and Birmingham's Brummagems to The Liverpool Cornermen) with the multi faceted gangs of today, they build up a criminal Who Do You Think You Are, full of amazing stories, characters and facts of British gangs.

South London
Gary and Martin Kemp look at two very different gangs from very different eras fighting over the piece of South London turf. In November 1990, Reigate in Surrey was like a scene from a movie where gunmen in Ronald Reagan masks ambush a Securicor van. Seventy years earlier in the 20s a different family was controlling the streets of South London. The Forty Thieves were a girl gang that controlled the biggest shoplifting network ever seen in Britain.
East and West London
Gary and Martin then turn their attentions to East and West London. Since the 1900's as many as 70 gangs have fought it out on London Streets. They have come and gone and the Second World War put pay to many of them, but there was one gang, which survived right up to the 1960 s though their origins go all the way back to the 1800s. Gary investigates the rise and fall of the infamous Watney Streeters - scourge of the East End, while Martin turns his attention to West London almost a hundred years later where in Southall, West London, an Asian gang called the Tooti Nung ruled the streets in the early part of our century.
