Synopsis:
Bristol Temple Meads railway station tells the story of the evolution of British railway heritage perfectly. The original railway station was constructed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel for the Great Western Railway in the late 1830's. Although many assume that the iconic clock tower and buildings now in use as Bristol Temple Meads railway station were built by Brunel, these buildings actually date from the 1870's extension. The station underwent further major refurbishments in the 1930's and is now one of the largest groups of Grade I listed buildings in the UK.
