Synopsis:
Guy Martin and the ultimate engineering project - restoring one of the world's most iconic fighter planes. The Grimsby lorry mechanic and motorcycle racer helps a team of experts rebuild a rare Mark 1 Spitfire, rescued from a French beach after crash landing during World War 2. It's a two year project where Guy not only helps manufacture vital new parts but also gets to fire the original machine guns and then experiences the flight of a lifetime - a dogfight with an enemy Messerschmitt. He'll uncover the extraordinary story of the ace who first flew the aircraft, and invite the pilot's daughters to witness the Spitfire's emotional return to the air.

Emotions stirred by the Spitfire. - Guy Martin's Spitfire review by Gray

Well worth a view as it shows the dedicated men and women who in the second world war worked tirelessly to build the aircraft that staved off the German invasion. This is all tied in with the rebuild of a Spitfire that was shot down over Dunkirk and taken back to England after many years buried in the sand. Very enjoyable.
