Synopsis:
Thomas has been estranged from his gay brother, Luc, for years, but when he is diagnosed with a potentially fatal blood disorder he turns up on his doorstep asking for help. Luc agrees to accompany him to the hospital where, despite tests, medication, injections and even surgery the doctors seem unable to halt Thomas' painful decline. Luc's boyfriend, all too aware of how Thomas has treated Luc in the past finds it difficult to accept Luc's sibling dedication and the bond between them also begins to painfully decline.
Cutting backwards and forwards in time between wintry Paris and summery Brittany, the fraternal relationship develops and gains strength as all hope and life appears to drain out of Thomas.

Good Drama - His Brother review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert

A moving drama about two brothers, who manage to say what haven't been said before, however, it took the older brother's severe illness (thrombocytopeni - it seems)to get to that point. Very European chamber play, that doesn't shy away from showing uncomfortable scenes in the hospital.

Depressing, but brave performances - His Brother review by CP Customer

Spoiler Alert
07/09/2008

Somewhat depressing drama that deals with two estranged brothers - one gay, one straight - who become close when one contracts a rare blood disease and begins the process of dying. Both performances are terrific, very underplayed but with a sense of melancholy and underlying tension but the film as a whole does little to lift the viewer above the dark subject matter. A few touches of light relief would have been welcome. Over all it’s a two-hander of intense intimacy and anyone who has ever lost someone close will feel it the deepest.
