Helen (Gwyneth Paltrow) thinks she has attained the perfect life when she moves with her handsome new husband (Jonathon Schaech) to the beautiful country estate of Kilronan. There she meets her mother-in-law Martha (Jessica Lange), a radiant southern widow who's passionately devoted to her only son.
