Synopsis:
A few bleached bones are all that remains of this elusive creature in Timothy Dalton's adopted state of California. In search of the reason for the nefarious reputation of these creatures, the James Bond star sets off on a quest that takes him to Alaska to meet the Nunamuit - an inland Eskimo tribe of wolf hunters. Next, to the forests of Minnesota where a team of researchers are studying specially collar tagged timber wolves - a success story in the making - the numbers having tripled since the sixties.
Up close and personal with an anaesthetised wolf, Dalton is stirred but not shaken! Onto Montana, where the wolves are making a comeback, slowly but surely, from the Canadian wilderness to the North. Dalton's mission covers 10,000 miles, and takes him, finally, to the Arctic. Why are these creatures still so badly thought of? Dalton answers the questions for us.

A good documentary presented with passion by Timothy Dalton - In the Wild: Wolves with Timothy Dalton review by TB

A really good documentary.

Timothy Dalton's portrayal of James Bond allowed him the opportunity to be involved in various passion projects of his. And this is clearly one that he feels very strongly about. In the opening comments he talks about his fascination with and reverence of wolves but also his frustration over their misrepresentation and demonisation in the modern world.

He is very fortunate to also be paired with an extremely interesting researcher, who is a great guide for him and us.

The result is an extremely concise, enlightening and informative programme. Dalton is not only a great actor but also a terrific presenter whose passionate interest in this animal and it's history made for compelling viewing.
