'Cast a Long Shadow' was an evening that brought together artists, musicians and fans to celebrate the life and music of Joe Strummer by respectfully paying tribute to Joe's broad and diverse musical career from The Clash to The Latino Rockabilly War and later with The Mescaleros. Performances also include music from Joe's solo album Earthquake Weather and the film soundtracks Walker and Permanent Record. This collection of live performances captures some exceptional arrangements by musicians, some of whom were friends and composed music with Joe, and others who were greatly influenced by the everlasting impact Joe Strummer made on their lives. Strummerville is a registered charity that aims to create new opportunities for aspiring musicians and was set up by family and friends in the wake of Joe Strummer's death in 2002. Strummerville seeks to reflect Joe's unique contribution to the music world by offering support, resources and performance opportunities to artists who would not normally have access to them.
