Synopsis:
Sir John Betjeman was born in Highgate in 1906. A prolific poet, broadcaster and architectural campaigner, he was knighted in 1969 and made Poet Laureate in 1972. He died in May 1984 and is buried in St Endoc's Church near his beloved home in Trebetherick. Written and narrated by Sir John Betjeman, 'Bird's Eye View: Beside The Seaside' traces the origins of the British seaside holiday, believed to have originated with King George III. Concentrating on the South West, the flying camera captures the natural beauty and character of the British people beside the sea and reveals the changing face of Great Britain.
'Bird's Eye View: An Englishman's Home' takes us on a helicopter trip over some of Britain's most extraordinary houses and offers a glimpse into our history in the process, from Iron Age forts to gentrified seaside pavilions.
