La Scala (1999)

This film chronicles a selection of the great performances which have taken place at La Scala, regarded by some as the most famous theatre in the world. In addition to performance and rehearsal material, there is footage of the theatre following its bombing in the 1940s. Performers include Mario Del Monaco, Tito Gobbi, Arturo Toscanini and Ferrucio Tagliavini, with music by Verdi, Puccini, Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti.
