"Louis Armstrong's sound transcends time and style. This DVD captures that intangible power and allows us to gaze upon it in wonder" - Wynton Marsalis Jazz Icons: Louis Armstrong is one of the only known complete Louis Armstrong concerts from the 1950s to be captured on film. This 55 minute set, filmed in Belgium in 1959, features many of Catchmo' greatest songs including "Mack The Knife", "When It's Sleepy Time Down South" and "Stompin' At The Savoy," backed by his stellar band the All-Stars, featuring Trummy Young, Peanuts Hucko, Billy Kyle, Danny Barcelona and Mort Herbert. Jazz Icons is an ongoing DVD series featuring full-length concerts and in-studio performances by the greatest legends of jazz, filmed all over the world from the 1950s through the 1970s. Beautifully transferred from the original masters, none of these concerts has ever been officially released on home video, and in many cases, the material was never broadcast. Each DVD is produced with the full support and cooperation of the artists or their estates.
