Lulu: Theater an Der Wien (Böhm) (1962)

The Austrian premier of Alban Berg's darkly satirical opera,recorded live at Vienna's Theater an Der Wien in 1962. In what proved to be a career-defining performance,American soprano Evelyn Lear takes on the role of Lulu,a femme fatale who descends from life as a society hostess into prostitution. Other cast members include Rudolph Schock,Paul Schöffler and Josef Knapp. The conductor is Karl Böhm.
