- Mediterraneo tells the story of a group of inept Italian soldiers who are sent to occupy a tiny, isolated Greek Island during WWII. Initially the island appears uninhabited but when it becomes apparent that there is a small Greek population, and moreover that all the young men have gone to war, the Italians begin to view their assignment with more enthusiasm. Each in their own far-flung corner of the gentle paradise, the soldiers embark on magical and sometimes unusual love affairs, whose endurance is threatened only by the encroachment of the war raging in the seemingly distant outside world.

Very good 'feel-good' film. Watch it at any time, it will leave you with a smile on your face.
Comedy, war-film, drama, romance, a brilliant Italian production.
Will have you packing your suitcases and heading for a Greek island the minute the film is over.

Sheer escapism for lovers of Greek Islands. This colourful glimpse of life on the island of Kastellorizo during the Italian rule is a lighthearted and entertaining watch. Touches of humour and great setting ensure an enjoyable film.

Lovely to look at - Mediterraneo review by LA
Beautiful looking film for those who are missing the blue sky and warmth of the Mediterranean. In no way is this deserving of an Oscar, but it’s an enjoyable way to spend a few hours on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
