- Celebrated actress Joan Hickson makes her mark once more in this period thriller as Jane Marple, a determined lady with an unassuming air and a flair for solving crime...Paul Eddington joins the cast as minister of the church in Miss Marple's village. Cheryl Campbell plays his carefree wife who dutifully entertains the ladies of the parish to tea and scandal. There are love affairs and church affairs. Then something happens to combine the two. A married woman takes a lover and her husband's murdered in the vicar's study. People swoop their theories and discuss but no-one listens, least of all Inspector Slack. Everybody's in the dark until Miss Marple sees the light.
