Synopsis:
In a highly original and amusing new series Simon Day and John Thomson, well known and loved comedians from 'The Fast Show', travel the counties of Britain for History. Each episode focuses on a different county with John and Simon taking part in events and traditions that keep the unique history of British counties alive and vibrant today. As it s Simon and John though, don't expect high brow expounding of country dancing or interviews with stuffed shirts - instead do expect lots of funny, weird, witty and interesting stuff! Cornwall Its time for the famous Duchy of Cornwall to get the John Thomson and Simon Day treatment.
Cue the comedians joining shanty singers, being forced to take part in Cornish wrestling, and plenty of antics at sea. Expect fun, weirdness, laughter and the odd ice cream. Carmarthenshire John Thomson and Simon Day are off to Wales, Carmarthenshire to be precise, where they have to learn to shear sheep, make Welsh cakes and join a bunch of pagans among other oddities. As usual, when you entrust history to a couple of comedians, you can expect plenty of laughs and chaos along the way. Herefordshire John Thomson and Simon Day forage deep into Herefordshire to find just what makes the county tick. What the chaotic pair end up doing is searching for poisonous snakes, fighting a vicious battle in the War of the Roses, auctioning carcasses of sheep and meeting a man with the biggest collection of latex dolls in the world. Dont ask!
