Synopsis:
Zach Grant (Russell Crowe) is an FBI agent with a serious problem. Responsible for a string of disastrous agency operations, his career is in tatters. On the homefront, life isn't much better as he blames his young son for every personal misfortune since the death of his wife in childbirth. Yuji Koyabashi, on the other hand, is in his prime. Head of the largest and most important Yakuza clan in America, he is smart, cunning and extremely ruthless when he needs to be. Adversaries who never would have expected to meet, they have nothing in common but their opposite views of the law - until fate steps in, making them unlikely allies.
Now with the help of an unexpected companion (Helen Slater) they must overcome their differences and prejudices to defeat the mafioso enemy that threatens them both.

Stretches incredulity - No Way Back review by JD

Spoiler Alert
18/11/2012

The basic plot is that Crowe takes a hostage to a bad guy. The hostage keeps escaping. He meets a women he initially finds irritating but then he falls for her. The number of times this hostage escapes is utterly beyond belief. I suppose it generally is an excuse for more blood and guts shooting. Unbelievable, with a predictable end.
