Synopsis:
The big screen's most popular comic duo, Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon, are back in the comedy Out To Sea. This time, they're mismatched brothers-in-law who wind up as dance hosts aboard a cruise ship in the Caribbean. Their mission: to meet - and hopefully fleece - the bevy of wealthy women aboard ship. Charlie (Matthau) and Herb's (Lemmon) problems at sea are compounded when they discover that the ship's cruise director, Gil Godwyn (Brent Spiner), is their worst nightmare, a song-and-dance man raised on a military base. Pursuing a promotion, Gil won't let anything or anyone get in his upwardly mobile way. Only he didn't count on Charlie and Herb.
The former is everywhere but on the dance floor as he pursues the beautiful and wealthy Liz LaBreche (Dyan Cannon). And widower Herb, although he's definitely not seeking romance, unexpectedly finds just that with Vivian (Gloria De Haven), who's been "shanghaied" by her daughter and son-in-law in an attempt to show her a good time. Romance, laughter, adventure and a few very big surprises. Charlie and Herb are about to discover it all as they head Out To Sea.
