- When Japan attacked the US naval base at Pearl Harbor on 7th December 1941,the Americans seemed to be caught completely unaware and suffered devastating loses as a consequence. But why was it such a surprise? Why did the American navy fail to recognise the approach of the Japanese fleet? This documentary examines these and other questions concerning the events which would precipitate the US intervention in WWII. Also includes John Ford's Oscar-winning short documentary 'December 7,1941'.
