THE PUPPET IS ALIVE! Gepetto carves the oak branch into a puppet for is own companionship, wishing the puppet were a real boy. During the night, the Oak Fairy, recognising Gepetto's kind and gentle nature as well as his loneliness, grants Gepetto's wish. Gepetto rejoices at having a real 'grandson' and names the puppet Pinocchio.
I DON'T WANT TO BE A PUPPET Pinocchio is on stage. The evil puppet master forces him to dance and sing. He's a big hit with the crowd, but Pinocchio misses his 'grandpa' Gepetto.

WHAT IS A HEART? As Pinocchio is leaving for school one morning, he and Gepetto witness a struggle between a neighbour boy, Jino, and his parents over whether or not Jino should go to school at all. As the parents try to pull Jino in two, Gepetto intercepts and asks Pinocchio to walk Jino to school.
