Rent Possible Worlds (2000)

A clever idea poorly executed - Possible Worlds review by CP Customer

It's quite hard to review 'Possible Worlds' as the story is so linear, it's near on impossible to describe the film without giving the ending away. The biggest problem with 'Possible Worlds' has to be with Director Robert Lepage. He takes an intriguing and clever idea, and then steadfastly refuses to develop it, and after dragging things out for an incredibly dull 80 minutes, we are then presented with an ending that most viewers would have figured out within the first 15 minutes of the film. Personally I would have much preferred a more ambiguous ending that kept the viewer guessing if George was switching between alternate worlds or not. The quality of acting is equally as bad, Lepage manages to get some excruciatingly bad performances out of some very credible actors. The dialogue is incredibly stale and stilted with long pauses, almost as if the actors are being forced to read their lines off cue cards. In the hands of a better director this could have been quite a clever little movie, but in its current state it's an incredibly dull and bland film.
